El cine de: Eckhart Schmidt

Director de cine Alemán que en los '80s dejó varias joyitas.  Se ha dedicado mucho al documental, así que su etapa más prolífica dentro del cine comercial fue entre 1982 y 1992.  Dirige hace casi 50 años y en los últimos 20 lleva dirigidos más de 60 documentales.





En Der Fan aka Blood Groupie aka Trance (1982), una chica está obsesionada por un cantante Pop del momento. Una noche consigue seducirle y pasar la noche con él, pero a la mañana siguiente él le confesará que no está enamorado de ella. A partir de ese momento, la chica perderá los papeles y en su interior se despertará un instinto asesino. (FILMAFFINITY)

“Der fan/El fan” se abre con los títulos de créditos más cortos de la historia, si bien pueden durar cuatro escasos segundos. Así pues el director no se anda con rodeos y nos presenta directamente a la protagonista de la cinta: Simone, con sus obsesiones y pasiones sobre “R”, ese cantante de techo-pop del que miles de chicas están enamoradas. Simone no va al colegio y cuando asiste lo hace dibujando el logotipo de su ídolo. Hasta que harta de no recibir la ansiada carta de “R” se da siete días de espera antes de ir a hasta Múnich en busca de su idolatrado cantante. Grata es la sorpresa de la joven cuando ve que “R” se han encaprichado de ella, la mima, le presta atención, la lleva a programas de T.V. e incluso hace el amor con ella.

Hasta aquí “Der Fan” es un típico telefilme de sobremesa con producción alemana y canciones pegadizas de fondo, si bien el espectador esta desenado que ocurra algo que cambie la trama y le un poco de acción o suspense.  Pues como de una tormenta veraniega se tratase el argumento y la personalidad de Simone dan una vuelta de tuerca, haciéndonos retorcer en un ambiente sórdido y macabro donde el amor es llevado hasta el límite de lo insospechado.

 

La producción de esta extraña cinta data del año 1982 y como bien he dicho antes es de factura alemana, en el mercado extranjero (también en España) llevo el título de “Trance”. Creo que vale la pena recordar que en la últimas décadas el cinema germano nos ha dejado pepinazos que han quedado incrustados en la mente de muchos gore maníacos (léase por ejemplo los “Nekromantik’s”) pues años antes el director con descendencia checa ya hacía de las suyas tratando temas para toda la familia como la necrofilia o el canibalismo.





Otra de sus películas fue LOFT (1985/6), ambientada en un futuro apocalíptico, en  donde una pareja de clase alta, Raoul y Raphaella, visitan una exposición de pintores surrealistas ofrecida por un grupo de anarquistas en su loft. Pronto serán secuestrados y torturados por un grupo de punks. (FILMAFFINITY)



Rodada por completo en el Berlin de la noche, Alpha City (1985) narra la historia de la joven Raphaela, perseguida por el violento pianista Frank y por un asesino americano, ambos enamorados de ella. (FILMAFFINITY)

Undine (1986) trata sobre una hermosa sirena que tiene su domicilio en un lago cercano y que conoce y se enamora de Raúl, un chico de conciencia ecológica quien también siente un profundo amor por Undine. Él comienza a sabotear el proyecto de su hermano, que planea destrozar la zona donde reside Undine. Cuando el malvado hermano muere por un deslizamiento de tierra, que él mismo ha provocado, el camino está despejado para el romance entre un agrimensor y una ninfa del agua. (FILMAFFINITY)

Is a big fan of Douglas Sirk and dedicated two documentaries, "Douglas Sirk: Über Stars" (1980) and "Nach Hollywood - Douglas Sirk erzählt" (1991) to him as well as his spiritual melodrama "Das Wunder" (1985) which he called a homage to Sirk's style of storytelling.

2012 shapes up to be a very busy and prolific year for Eckhart Schmidt. Here some highlights!

Film and Photography:

• 2011 was a year of high activity. Two new documentaries have been produced and broadcast – “Hollywood Scandals” and “Hollywood's Walk of Fame”. Both films received high ratings and raving reviews.
• In early 2012 Eckhart shot and finished editing a film about L.A.'s fight against the art of graffiti. The project was shot all over L.A. including in the most hidden and dangerous locations. Title: “The Last Graffiti Show”. This film will come into theaters later this year.
• 2012: Following in the footsteps of the DVD release success of “Hollywood Fling”, Eckhart began to shoot another feature film in the same raw cinematographic style. Title of the new feature project: “Confessions Of A Girl In Love”.

• Furthermore Eckhart finished shooting and editing a project called “Motel Girls” and a documentary called “Stripped – Naked – Nude”. Both will be released in April. The accompanying book “Motel Girls” will be published in June by Belleville Verlag

Art and Literature:

• 2011: Two international exhibits for “The Art of Passion", Los Angeles and Munich.
• 2012:  Eckhart showed a selection of his art work from  "The Last Graffiti Show" at the renowned Stephen Hoffman Gallery in Munich, entitled L.A. Street Art. The show received high attention from press and public.
• 2011 Eckhart Schmidt published  a double novel called “Hotel/Minorella”, two shocking stories about the young generation.

• 2012 published Eckhart “Corridos – Stories”, 12 Stories about passion and death, glamour and violence in Hollywood and Mexico.

• Coming in the Summer of 2012: the photo book “Motel Girls” and a new novel entitled “Club Girl – Death of a Club Girls”, both to be published by Belleville in June.

Eckhart Schmidt just finished writing his memoirs entitled “Stich-Worte”. The book will come out end of the year.
